Basil Genovese – Seed Packet
ABOUT: Heirloom variety of Sweet Basil with origins in Genoa, Italy. Produces abundant, richly fragrant glossy-green leaves that are perfect in Caprese salads, classic pesto, and tomato & pasta dishes.
HOW TO GROW: Direct sow 1-2 weeks after the last frost or start inside 4-6 weeks before transplanting out (nighttime temps should be above 50ºF). If direct sowing: plant seeds 1/4″ deep, 2-3 seeds per inch, in 18″ rows.
Thinning is not necessary, but a final spacing of 4-8″ apart produces healthy, full plants. Successive small sowings every 3 weeks will keep a steady supply of basil in the kitchen.
